Učinki mikrovalovnega sevanja na človeka

Elektromagnetno sevanje (krajše EMS) je oblika energije, ki se širi skozi prostor. Opišemo ga lahko kot elektromagnetno valovanje ali pa kot curek delcev (fotonov). V nadaljenvanju ga bomo opisali na prvi način – kot valovanje. Določeno je s frekvenco, ki je povezana z energijo sevanja z Planckovo zvezo: . Pri tm je E energija sevanja izražena v joulih (J), frekvenca valovanja, izražena v , pa je Planckova konstanta. Ta zveza nam pove, da sevanja z višjimi frekvencami nosijo višje energije. Elektromagnetno valovanje ima dve komponenti: magnento in električno, ki sta pravokotni druga na drugo, vsaka nosi polovico energije. V prostoru se elektromagnetno sevanje širi s hitrostjo svetlobe v smeri, ki je pravokotna na obe komponenti, to prikazuje Slika 1.
